Meet Your Instructor

Hi, I'm Christina Shadle. I'm a former "wine lover" turned functional nutritionist. And when I say I loved wine, I really, really loved it. I even worked in a couple wine tasting rooms and truly loved to sip it nightly. But, when I started realizing that I truly felt awful more often than I felt good, I knew something had to change. And in my early 40s when I would have even a half of glass of wine, that meant not sleeping through the night. Then boom, it hit me, I'm perimenopausal! That wake-up call made me realize it was time to make different choices about the role alcohol played in my life. Now, I'm a lot more mindful about alcohol's short term effects on my sleep and long term effects on my body and brain and am more than happy to share my functional perspective with you here.

Look, I love seeing that people of all ages are being more mindful surrounding alcohol consumption. More and more people are doing Dry January, sipping non-alcoholic drinks or mocktails at parties, or even saying "no" to alcohol in general—I do still LOVE to imbibe here and there—but again, I'm more mindful. So I created this mini-course, "Wellness for Winos" to explore how those of us who enjoy occasional cocktails, wine—or other alcoholic beverages—can still maintain a healthy and balanced lifestyle.
