What Does It Mean To Live Holistically?

Holistic living is a way of living a healthy, sustainable & balanced life. It involves making intentional choices to care for our mind, body & soul. Holistic living involves seeing the “bigger picture” when it comes to everything. It’s recognizing that the different parts of ourselves always connect to the larger whole, that the symptoms we experience aren’t isolated issues & having the awareness that everything influences everything else.

Being Intentional

Holistic living means being intentional with the food & ingredients we choose to put in our bodies and the household products we buy — looking through the “bigger picture” lens. It’s crazy how many harmful chemicals manufacturers add to everyday products. These chemicals impact our bodies & emotions. So, when you can, opt for organic, unprocessed, whole foods and look to natural remedies before you look to OTC drugs or toxic cleaning products.

Being Balanced

If weight loss is one of your health goals, you’ll need a balance of food, sleep, exercise & stress reduction. Oftentimes, we think that if we work out a lot, we can eat whatever we want – but making poor decisions in the kitchen will result in a less-than-optimal intake of certain key nutrients. Deficiencies can affect mood, sleep & digestion. What works best for YOUR body won’t be the same for other individuals. Learning what tools work for you as a bio-individual will ultimately open more doors to optimal health.

Being Present

Ideally, we are aware of what we are feeling and what we’re experiencing. By asking ourselves, “Am I tired? Am I hungry? Am I feeling strong or weak?”, we can become more aware of our bodies, thoughts & feelings that come up. A yoga class or walk around the block are great ways to put us in touch with the present moment enough to ‘check in’ and become more aware. When you make the decision to heal your body naturally, it is important to become more self-aware so you can better assess your body’s needs and know when to say “yes” and when to say “no” when it comes to making decisions about what to eat, what type of exercise to do, or know when you should just be chilling instead.

Taking a holistic approach to your health allows you to get clear on what is really going on in your body. When you make the decision to work with me, collaboratively, we’ll map out a clear path to your health goals, identify & address the underlying causes of any symptoms you’re experiencing, and ultimately, prevent disease.
